12 months ago to the day, 5th February 2012, I was just arriving in Kunming city ready to travel in the footsteps of the great plant hunter George Forrest. Along the trip I would take in the 2012 Chuxiong International camellia congress, collect Trewithen’s certificate in recognition of being excepted as an ICS camellia garden of excellence, visit places where George Forrest would have visited and explored, see Camellias in their natural “Wild” environment, eat loads of lush food and make new friends from all over the world (Literally the whole world, brilliant people from America, New Zealand, Australia, China, Europe, the UK and Cornwall).

My blog has daily updates of the trip as they happened in real time. These are archived on the web site.

The trip was amazing, the Chinese made us feel so welcome and we were treated as VIP’s the whole time. Amazing trip, amazing memories.

I have made a page with a few of my photos from the trip; it was so hard to select only a few out of the several thousand images but I hope you get a feel of the experience. The pictures can be found at http://www.trewithengardens.co.uk/ics-congress-2012

I am doing several “Camellia Crazy” tours here at the gardens this season see web site for details. http://www.trewithengardens.co.uk/tours
