Our second flower show of the year and our second success.

The Spring show held at Boconnoc was a huge success not just for us but for the Cornwall garden society. The sun shone the whole weekend which helped the record attendance.

With the harsh cold winter a distant memory the floral displays were just stunning. Caerhays’ Magnolias were perfection in a vase. They couldn’t have been more perfect.

We put all our eggs in one basket and entered class 1 (traditionally known as “The Five Foot Run”). This class consists of ‘An unrestricted collection of outdoor hardwood ornamental trees, shrubs or climbers…’ As you can see from the photo we took that quite literally and filled all three tiers to bursting point. Rhododendrons were the backbone of the display we used R.macabeanum, R.falconeri, R.niveum (a truly stunning light purple flower) with these we added Magnolia campbellii ‘Alba’, M.’Albatross’, Camellia japonica ‘Dr Burnside’, Skimmia to name but a few.

First place and the “Rosemary Cobbald-sawle cup” for our efforts was as good as it gets.

Special thanks go to all the garden team with an extra mention to Neil who put together and staged the exhibit.

Well done.
