29 days later than the 2002-2008 first flowering date of January 19th we have our first magnolia flower. The plant is above and behind you as you look into the cock pit and is a seedling form our champion magnolia campbellii susp.mollicomata. This proves that even with the long, harsh, cold winter spring is still on track to be glorious.

Some plants have suffered with physical signs of cold damage but try telling that to the camellia, rhododendron and now magnolias that are in flower.

Gardens open March the first and I promise you that the Asiatic magnolia will be stunning!
