My Plant of the month for February is… Hellebore

Hellebores (common name the Christmas or Lenten rose) are lush perennial plants which flower during late winter and early spring. The really brighten a shady area of the garden.

We cut back the evergreen foliage once the flower spikes appear for two reasons. The first to tidy up the plant as the foliage can look tatty at this time of year. The second is to expose and show off the flowers better.
