My plant of the month for July is…
Buddleja colvilei 'Kewensis'. The species is from the eastern Himalayas. Discovered by Hooker in 1849, who declared it "the handsomest of all Himalayan shrubs". 'Kewensis' is a darker red flower.
It produces large wine-red panicles in early summer, semi-evergreen large shrub. Quite tender, we have lost plants in the past.
This year it its in full flower on the west side of south lawn.
