Plant of the month for June is…

Loropetalum chinense 'Fire Dance'
a gorgeous shrub with dark, wine-red, leaves and pretty witch hazel like pink flowers. Height only reaching 1.5 to 2m forming a well behaved dome like shape. I saw this shrub used widely throughout my trip to south east to central China in 2007 and fell in love with it.
Not totally hardy in the garden here, we have lost a few to temperature below -5 (although that is exceptionally rare in Cornwall)

The short list for Plant Personality Of the Year (PPOTY) awards is at its half way stage with 6 "plants of the month" nominated. This highly prestigious award is given, by me, to the best plant from the 12. In December, during an glitzy ceremony (me in my office, alone!) The bronze, silver and gold medal winners will be announced live on the web site.
