Rhododendron spinuliferum
This unusual species originates in South Yunnan, China. I saw it growing on the side of roads, embankments and footpaths while travelling through Yunnan In February 2012.
The leaves are bristly with the orange flowers pointing upwards. The shrub tends to be quite leggy so ideally best near support or a wall.
