January's plant of the month is…

Daphne bhoula 'Darjeeling'

Originally from the Himalayas this one was from seed collected in Darjeeling and planted at Wisley in 1961. With its long lasting, extremely sweet scented flowers this is a must plant for your garden. Almost fully evergreen here at Trewithen it depends where you are located as to its full hardiness. Here it flowers from early December right through till February and sometimes into March. The area within the garden where it’s planted is full of the heady sweet scent. You can certainly smell it before you see it.
