Second place for 2009 is …

Schima wallichii var khasiana.

A member of the Theacea (Camellia) family. It performed far and above its best I’ve ever seeen this year. In September the whole of the triangle to west terrace area was filled with the sweet scent from this champion tree. A mass of poached egg like single camellia style flowers covered the tree. A huge plus for this tree is the lush dark green glossy foliage, reason enough to grow without the flowers. Another plant from Yunnan and East Himalayas.
