The bronze medal in this year Plant Personality of The Year awards goes to… Stewartia malacodendron A member of the Theaceae therefore related to Camellia, Stewartia malacodendron is a stunner. In July large white flowers, with gorgeous purple stamens and bluish anthers, appear amongst the light green foliage. Originates from SE USA and more than happy here planted at the far end of main lawn. Worth paying the entrance fee just to see this shrub in flower.
