At a glittering gala launch (my office) the short list for this years Plant Personality Of the Year awards were announced. They consist of winners from the plant of the month feature and are judged using very strict criteria including their garden merit, performance, flower, foliage etc but most important is if I like them! The list is, in no particular order:- Stachyurus chinensisRhododendron ‘Hotei’Rosa ‘Dublin Bay’Cornus kousa var.chinensisSchima wallichiCamellia sasanqua ‘Narumigata’Rhododendron tosaenseRubus ‘Olympic Double’Rhododendron maddenii subsp.crassumStewartia malacodendron. From this list I will choose the top three and announce the winner soon! Previous winners include Rhododendron ‘Trewithen Purple’, Schefflera macrophylla and Enkianthus perulatus. Who will join this elite list?
