January/February 2009.

Weather was talking point at the start of 2009. As predicted and prepared for we had a cold snap going down to minus 7 on January the 7th. The cold , making an actual winter, delayed the first flowering magnolia by an amazing 37 days.

With the lowest temperatures for two decades there came, in February, the rare appearance of a blanket of snow. Cornwall doesn’t do snow so life ground to a complete standstill with no cars on the roads and everyone buying up supplies of bread and milk just in case, well it did last a whole day! Walking around the garden in the complete still and silence that snow brings was purely magical and a perfect photo opportunity (I now have 175 good snow images).
