March

On the first of March we re-opened or re-launched the retail sales area of the garden. During the winter months we completely overhauled our ‘Plant sales area’ with a new paying in hut, benches, paths and planting plus Marilyn started her role as retail manager with the nursery now concentrating efforts on wholesale.

Easter and Mothers day saw some good offers in plant sales with mums having free entry on mothering Sunday which due to its success will be repeated in 2010.

Our two big shows occurred during this part of the year with the CGS spring flower show in April and the Royal Cornwall show in June. 14 firsts, several seconds and the RHS Banksian medal proved the CGS show at Boconnoc was a huge success. Royal Cornwall proved slightly disappointing silver-gilt which is better than nothing but not a gold!

The Rose garden is going from strength to strength with the first bloom seen around mid May and continued flowering till the autumn pruning in November.

Pop back and read the last part of the review coming soon plus the eagerly anticipated “Plant personality of the year 2010”.
