On Wednesday 4th April 2008 we hosted the opening ceremony of the International Camellia Societies bi-annual congress. During the event all 230 delegates had a tour around the garden. The highlight, for me, was to meet Prof. Gao Jiyin (who collected all the species planted in the Jinhua international camellia species garden, China). He came bearing gifts of seed some of camellia nittidissima, a true yellow, and some of the controversially named Camellia azalea (now to be called C.changii) which will flower all year! A true summer flowering camellia. I can't wait for the first red, single flower.
