Our Champion Eurcryphia cordifolia has started to bloom. The first tell tale sign is the dropping of the white petals onto the paths. You will need to look up though as it stands in excess of 18m. The whole, evergreen, tree is clothed in pure white flowers similar in appearance to those of Hypericum (The Rose of Sharon).
Eucryphias are southern hemisphere trees but have adapted extremely well to our Cornish maritime climate. This specimen suckers itself freely which in a small garden could be a chore.
A must plant for the garden on all respects, Evergreen attractive heart shaped foliage, profuse summer flowering and fully hardy. What more could you ask for from a tree?
