Walking around the garden in the dappled shade away from the recent scorching heat has been a joy. The seasons this year have been amazing. A cold winter with snow, a mild spring full of flowers and now a hot summer full of colour and perfume. Plants such as Lauralia serrata (Chilean laurel) are filling the air with an aroma similar to ginger nut biscuits. Stewartia sinesis is in full bloom with its single white Camellia like petals covering the lawn.

Add the perfume from the Roses and the absolutely stunning display from cornus kousa var.chinensis and the gardens have never looked better.
