Rhododendron edgeworthii CCHH 8016
After the BBC’s sports personality, strictly and I’m a celebrity the excitement levels were “ramped” up for this most of all the award ceremonies.
Plant of the month for May 2016 and a real “stunner” or “show stopper” when in flower. Winner on garden merit and deserving of the title of Plant Personality of The year 2016
A species collected on the Shweli-Salween divide, Burma, that has the thickest, darkest orange-brown indumentum (Small hairs on the underside of the leaves). It is a strikingly beautiful form with its stunning foliage and its very large, scented, waxy white-tinged pink flowers. a truly stunning plant.
Tender and requiring dappled shade and very good drainage. It does grow in a pot which can be brought in to a frost free environment in cold winters (we are lucky, In Cornwall, that we are mild enough for her to happily grow outside).
