Hydrangea_Europa_1.jpgPlant of the month for August is…

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Europa’

Hydrangeas sometimes get forgotten about and can be seen as “Common” but is the right setting these shrubs are a hard working, reliable and beautiful addition to the garden.

‘Europa’ is a small, compact shrub with the added bonus of large lush green leaves. The Hortensia-type (mop head) flowers are large purple to dark blue, with us but are generally sold as deep pink, and last from august right up to the first frost (or in Cornwall till they go brown next spring!)
