Weekly woodturning @trewithen
From March 1st 2017 we are proud to host the:
Cornwall Association of Woodturners
We are a large and active club based in our own dedicated workshop at the Wheal Jane Earth Science Park at Baldhu near Truro. The club has a large fully equipped workshop with 12 lathes. Other facilities include a kitchen, a lounge and a materials shop. We are open for turning four nights a week when there are always 2 tutors present to provide support and advice. This makes it an excellent place for beginners to woodturning as well as for more experienced turners. In addition to the turning nights, we have a monthly club night with guest speakers, demonstrations, our own themed competition and, of course, food.
The club has a membership of over 60, including a professional turner and several exhibiting turners. The club regularly has a stand for demonstrations and sales at a number of local venues, including some of Cornwall’s most popular tourist sites.
The club is proud to have supported local charities and has particularly close ties with Little Harbour – part of Children’s Hospice South West. As well as making display items and toys the club has raised many thousands of pounds over recent years.
Woodturners on holiday in Cornwall are welcome to join us for an evening but please note we are closed during August.
