Mr and Mrs Galsworthy currently live at Trewithen with their two children Jack and Imogen. Mr Galsworthy, who is George Johnstone’s grandson, also has three children by his late wife Charlotte – Olivia, Stamford (Sam) and Susannah. He inherited the estate from his aunt, Elizabeth Jonstone, when she died in 1994.
Mr Galsworthy is the son of the late Sir John Galsworthy KCVO, CMG and his wife Jennifer (nee Johnstone).
Over the years he has taken on a range of high profile roles including being Prime Warden of The Goldsmith’s Company – one of the 12 great livery companies of the City of London – from 2010-2011, being a member of the Prince’s Council from 1983 – 2000, High Sheriff of Cornwall (1994), chairman of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (1990-1993), Rural Development Commissioner for England (1987-1992), the former Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and former President of Cornwall Garden Society.
Sam Galsworthy, Mr Galsworthy’s eldest son, co-founded and runs Sipsmith, an independent gin and vodka distillery in London which is winning many accolades for its product range and quality.
